Given the historic unionization win of SU graduate student workers (728-36!), and given National AAUP’s affiliation with unions and support of collective bargaining rights, we decided to do events exploring the broader importance of unions in higher education (and highlight the current organizing wave among many different kinds of workers across higher education). The events will bring together different faculty expert and union constituencies across campus (and explore the legal challenges and opportunities to increased unionization at SU).
